RoamID Help
Answers to common questions about setting up and using your RoamID tag.
Getting Started
What is RoamID?
RoamID connects a physical emergency tag to an Emergency Profile. When the tag is ACTIVE, anyone with its unique URL can open the information you chose to make available for emergency use.
What is the difference between claiming and activating a tag?
Claiming reserves a tag to an authorised account and places it in a PENDING state. Activation is a later step that makes an eligible, ready Emergency Profile available through the tag. A PENDING tag does not disclose Emergency Profile information.
What is the normal setup sequence?
Start by claiming your tag, then continue to Manage and make sure it’s set up for the right person. If this is your first RoamID tag and it’s for someone you manage, you can create or choose their Emergency Profile and confirm that the tag is for them. Once confirmed, that choice is permanent.
Next, complete the Emergency Profile and add at least one ICE contact. Review the information and confirm that it’s current, then activate the tag. Finally, test the tag with NFC and check the Emergency Profile QR in Manage to make sure both open the correct person’s Emergency Profile.
Getting StartedCan a new customer set up their first retail tag for another person?
Yes. After claiming your first retail tag, continue to Manage and choose whether the tag is for you or somebody you are authorised to manage. If it is for somebody else, create or select their authorised managed Emergency Profile, then explicitly confirm that person for the tag.
This option is only available while setting up your very first RoamID tag, before it has been activated. Once you confirm who the tag is for, that choice is permanent. Your emergency information won’t be visible through the tag until you activate it.
Getting StartedEmergency Profile & Privacy
Are Emergency Profiles private?
No. An ACTIVE Emergency Profile is intentionally public to anyone possessing the tag's permanent URL. Only include information you are comfortable making available for emergency use.
What can a responder see?
A responder can see the published Emergency Profile information and ICE contact details associated with an ACTIVE tag. They do not need to sign in to access the permanent tag URL.
Is saving the same as verifying my profile?
No. Saving changes updates the profile. Verifying records that you reviewed the Emergency Profile information as current. RoamID does not medically verify customer-entered information.
Where can I read about privacy and data handling?
The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use describe RoamID's privacy and service information. Review them before activating a tag.
Privacy PolicyICE Contacts
What are ICE contacts?
ICE means In Case of Emergency. These are people whose contact details may be displayed to responders through an ACTIVE Emergency Profile.
Can responders contact my ICE contacts?
Responders may use the displayed telephone details to contact an ICE contact. RoamID does not place calls to ICE contacts.
What do Not provided, None known and Listed mean?
These states describe what is known or shared for conditions, medications and allergies. An empty list is not the same as None known. Choose the state that is true for the represented person.
Who keeps ICE contact details current?
The customer responsible for managing the profile must keep ICE contact names, relationships and telephone numbers current, and should tell each nominated contact that their details may be visible through an ACTIVE tag URL.
NFC & QR
Do NFC and QR open the same profile?
Yes. NFC and responder QR access resolve to the same permanent opaque public URL for a tag.
How do I scan an NFC tag?
Unlock an NFC-capable phone and hold it near the tag. Phone model, case thickness and tag position can affect detection, so try a small change in position if it does not scan immediately.
Does every physical product include a responder QR?
No. Check the QR available in Tag management for the same Emergency Profile as NFC. Physical products may not include a printed responder QR.
Tags & Lifecycle
What does PENDING mean?
A PENDING tag has not completed activation. It does not disclose Emergency Profile information.
What happens when a tag becomes ACTIVE?
An ACTIVE tag makes its linked Emergency Profile available to anyone possessing its permanent NFC or QR URL. Activation requires current readiness, eligibility, authority and lifecycle requirements.
Can I freely reassign a tag to another person?
No. Once a tag has been set up for someone, customers can’t move it to another person.
There is one exception during the setup of a brand-new customer’s very first RoamID tag: before the tag is activated, they can choose whether it is for themselves or someone they are authorised to manage. Once that choice is confirmed, it is permanent.
Accounts, Profiles & Access
What is the difference between an account owner and a represented person?
An account owner is an authenticated person with account authority. A represented person is the real person whose emergency information appears in an Emergency Profile. They may be the same person, another adult or a minor.
Can an account manage profiles for other people?
Current adult-eligible account controllers can manage authorised Emergency Profiles for other adults or minors. Relationship labels describe a relationship but do not by themselves establish authority.
Can someone else help manage my account?
An account owner can invite a delegated manager. Accepted delegated managers can manage authorised account profiles; Account Stewards have additional account-lifecycle authority where granted.
How do I choose the right person before making changes?
Open Manage and select or confirm the intended represented person before using profile-sensitive actions. This avoids acting on the wrong authorised profile.
Open ManageTroubleshooting & Support
What should I check if a tag does not work?
Confirm that the tag is ACTIVE, check NFC position with a compatible phone, and use the available QR in Tag management where applicable. Review the intended person and profile status in Manage.
Open ManageWhere can I check RoamID service status?
The public service-status page reports current service information. Check it before assuming a problem is specific to your account or tag.
Service statusCan RoamID administrators access my information for support?
Normal administrator operation does not expose your Emergency Profile or ICE content. An account owner or current Account Steward can deliberately enable temporary, exact-account, read-only support access. It cannot edit Emergency Profile or ICE information, or change verification, customer authority or tag lifecycle.
SupportLeaving RoamID
How do I close my RoamID account?
The account owner or a current Account Steward can request closure from Account status. Closure begins a pending-deletion period rather than immediately deleting the account.
Account statusCan I reinstate an account after requesting closure?
During the pending-deletion window, the account owner or a current Account Steward can reinstate the account. After the permanent deletion deadline, the account cannot be reinstated.
Account statusWhat happens to tags when an account is permanently deleted?
Hard deletion removes active Emergency Profile, medical and ICE content from the active application store and removes ordinary account/profile authority. Physical tags are permanently retired and cannot be reused. Limited tag identifiers and minimised lifecycle, credential, security, audit and provenance records may remain for integrity; provider recovery or operational copies may persist for provider-dependent periods.
Service & Responder Use
Do responders need an account to view an Emergency Profile?
No. An ACTIVE Emergency Profile is available to anyone with the tag's permanent NFC or QR URL, without a RoamID sign-in.
What happens if the service or tag is unavailable?
If a tag is inactive, unavailable or cannot be resolved, RoamID does not disclose Emergency Profile information. Service availability is reported separately on the public status page.
Service statusDoes RoamID track responders or interpret medical information?
No. RoamID does not provide responder tracking, scan-location recording, scan notifications, diagnosis, medical advice or AI interpretation of emergency information.
Is RoamID a replacement for emergency services?
No. RoamID makes customer-provided emergency information available through an ACTIVE tag. In an emergency, contact local emergency services and use professional judgement.
